The Etch A Sketch is a classic toys with a frame which uses aluminium powder to create drawings when the internal stylus is controlled with two knobs for horizontal and vertical movement.
Now a modern twist has been put on the 1960s toy with the Tilt-A-Sketch, which substitutes the aluminium powder with an LED matrix, and the stylus and knobs with an inertial measurement unit.
This allows the user to tilt the device in the desired direction and a microcontroller then lights up a series of LEDs to create the image.
This version was built by devitoal as part of an art installation, and preserves the functionality of the classic Etch-a-Sketch toys to allow users to create their own art.
