Niklas Roy has created a cabinet generating unique pieces of art each time a €1 coin is inserted, with the purchase triggering the release of a newly created print.
The display used is an LCD panel with its backlight removed, enhancing the artistic experience with the buyer able to authenticate the image by eye against the screen.
The artwork is generated using a Unix timestamp as a seed to create a series of points joined together to create a graphic form.
Each work is unique but can be reproduced given the timestamp used as the seed.
This creation raises questions around the authenticity of unique art in the era of digital reproduction and distributive copying.
