UK-based Botmatrix was approached by PCB manufacturer PCBWay to develop a project using their new glow-in-the-dark silkscreen material that can be applied to printed circuit boards (PCBs).
While the manufacturer hasn’t revealed exactly how the material is made, it is believed it could simply involve adding glow-in-the-dark powder to silkscreen ink.
Botmatrix’s testing determined it could be useful to highlight specific test points on a board, which could be revealed using a UV flashlight.
It is also suitable for visually reactive conference badges or other applications where the PCB plays a major cosmetic role.
Botmatrix claimed in the video that these are the first commercially available glow-in-the-dark PCBs.
