A Hackaday reader has shared a video tip posted on YouTube by “AvE” on how to resize a hole using only a drill bit, tinfoil, and a slow speed.
While it may sound unrealistic, the hack involves placing a piece of tinfoil over the hole and then using the tip of the drill bit to poke a dent into the foil and the centre of the hole.
After this, the rest of the foil wrapped around the drill bit can be used to gradually re-size the hole.
This process only works for enlarging holes, with the foil acting as a temporary sheath around the drill bit to achieve a slightly bigger diameter.
