Hektor, from Juerg Lehni, is the first ‘plotter bot’ Hackaday could find, and it used spray paint rather than a pen to draw on walls.
Since Hektor, there have been a number of similar bots created, all with the same basic premise of using motors to drive two lines or belts attached to a wall, with a pen or router attached, to create art or maps on walls and whiteboard.
Some versions simplify the design by using only straight lines, while others experiment with different mounting options and try to make their implementation more like a traditional Cartesian plane.
The repetition of this basic concept in different forms shows the enjoyment people get from the machine, and the different takes on the same mechanical problem.
