A do-it-yourself YouTube maker has shown an alternative method of creating a split keyboard by literally cutting a working keyboard in two and trying to rejoin the two halves.
The process, which includes soldering many wires and reparing traces, is shown in detail in the video, along with troubleshooting errors and demonstrating the keyboard matrix.
While the hack is admittedly creative, it is possibly not the best method of creating a split keyboard, but the maker claims it was “surprisingly simple and easy!“.
The video’s description encourages non-Japanese speakers to watch the video anyway, with the suggestion that the visual steps are more important than understanding the spoken words.
