The NFC (near-field communication) Music Player was inspired by a toy that read stories aloud based on the figurine placed on top, and builds on the same concept using songs instead of stories.
It uses an ESP32 Wi-Fi/BT module and a MAX98357A Class D amplifier to play audio, an SD card for storing the music and a PN532 NFC reader to read the flash cards that activate each song.
The entire setup is enclosed in a 3D-printed box which has a 3-watt full-range speaker to output the tunes.
Files are available on Github for those who are interested in making one, and it’s an easy and fun project, especially when the intention is to simply toss a flashcard at the box to trigger a song.
This is the third NFC music player to feature on Hackaday this week, highlighting the growing popularity of the concept.
