Ricardo, who has previously achieved Java compatibility on the PlayStation 2 (PS2), has developed an implementation of the Golang programming language for the Cube Terence console (a modified PS2).
Although the PS2’s operating system is not as robust as that of a modern computer, Ricardo achieved the port by using TinyGo, a version of Golang for simpler, resource-constrained systems.
After achieving a basic form of “Hello, World!” the programmer is now working on getting a VGA graphics library to work on the system as well.
This is not the first time an obscure console has received support for a seemingly incompatible programming language; in January 2023, a hacker managed to get Java working on the Nintendo 64.
