The rise of bespoke computers that individuals build themselves to fulfil specific purposes or wants has been one of the most exciting developments in recent years, with more and more people creating their own computers.
These machines are often inspired by science fiction and labelled ‘cyberdecks’, but not all of them fit this description, including the Cyber Writer cyberdeck from Darbin Orvar.
This machine has a 10-inch screen and is made from laser-cut Baltic birch plywood, recalling early computer terminals.
It is powered by a Raspberry Pi Zero W 2 processor, which might seem underpowered for some users, but Darbin has developed a minimalist word processor to accompany it.
This features integrated file management and the ability to email export documents, but the software is not yet available to the public.
