Summary
A Disneyinspired bipedal robot, the Open Duck Mini v2, is in development and reportedly costs around $400.
The miniature design, which is 40cm tall, is being created using a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W, hobby servos and an BNO055-based absolute orientation IMU.
The creators, Antoine Pirrone and Grégoire Passault, are using computer simulation to develop the robot, which can already waddle and stabilise itself.
The design specifications, CAD files, code and materials list are available on GitHub, along with a link to a Discord community.
The project’s progress can be seen in action here and readers are invited to submit their own versions to Hackaday via tipswich.com.
