To celebrate the 30-year launch anniversary of Windows 95, “Ms-Dos5” and “Commodore Z” created an exhibition at VCF East 2025 including nine computers running various versions of the operating system.
The exhibition included a range of software, including Kidpix, MS-paint, Lego Island, LucasArts Full Throttle, Duke Nukem 3D and Word 97 amongst others, along with a range of the original software packaging.
Windows 95 was innovative as it utilised bright colours and GUI designs that did not require high definition monitors to function well, in contrast to later Windows versions.
For many, the nostalgia of the event will have brought back memories of making music online, playing games and multitasking, making for an enjoyable trip down memory lane for those who attended.
