In another epic DIY project, enterprising maker [BorisDigital] has built his own lift or elevator, using interconnected Raspberry Pi controllers andWebAPIsof MQTT over WiFi.
You may remember a similar epic DIY project building a functioning 3D scanner using several Raspberry Pi controllers which we featured last month.
In this build, [BorisDigital] went all out designing a control panel for the lift car and a lobby call panel (he actually needed three of these), and set up switches for the pumps, etc, to make the whole thing work.
Although this was just a fun project, [BorisDigital] did note that he used 10A AC switches for the pumps, indicating that he uses solid state relays to power the lift.
As [hackaday.com] comments, “one of the first jobs I applied for out of school had “write an elevator control system” for its coding test”, indicating that functional testing of such a setup would also be an interesting exercise.
