Blogger and developer Gustave has successfully managed to load Microsoft’s Windows operating system onto a Pixel Watch 3 smartwatch, an unusual move given the market is dominated by devices powered by either Apple’s iOS or Google’s Android.
The watch usually runs Google’s Wear OS but Gustave managed to unlock the bootloader to add key Windows components, including UEFI, onto the device.
While the April 1st release is real, Gustave accepts it is more of an experiment than a real world solution, and has provided the steps and code for others to pursue the build if they wish.
Adding a Bluetooth keyboard to the watch would allow users to interact with Windows in a more practical way, though this would add significantly to the bulk of the watch.
