The Pet Hacks challenge, sponsored by DigiKey, asks hackers to showcase projects that they have completed for their pets.
Entrants have until 27th May to submit their projects on hackaday.io to be in with a chance of winning one of three $150 gift certificates.
Projects already featured on Hackaday include a robot ball-thrower, a hamster wheel that is integrated into a smart home system, and an automatic feeder.
The four categories for honorable mentions are pet safety, playful pets, cyborg pets, and home alone.
Past pet hacks include a door that recognises cats and automatically lets them in, avoiding them needing to use their owner’s key, and a dog-poop drone that can detect and remove piles from the lawn.
The post includes several hyperlinks to previous pet hacks published on Hackaday.com.
