Mitxela has launched the Euroknob, a prototype module for Eurorack synthesisers that features a hidden 3.5mm audio jack.
The potentiometer is connected to the jack using a plug and socket, so when the jack is unplugged, the module can be controlled by a cable from another unit.
When the knob is plugged in, an AS5600 magnetic encoder senses the magnets in the jack and enables the user to control the module manually.
The unit also features a CH32V003 chip that runs the encoder and drives LEDs to offer the user feedback.
While the module is only a prototype at present, it could be a useful addition to any synthesiser user’s arsenal.
