The Owon HDS160 is a digital voltmeter with a built-in oscilloscope, which is an affordable alternative to buying separate devices.
It has a 60,000-count multimeter, compared to 20,000 for the previous model, the HDS120, with the same oscilloscope functionality, but lacking the capacitance measuring feature of the HDS120.
The internal chip, HY3131, has a 50,000-count rating, so it is unclear why the meter has a higher rating, which may indicate that some of the chip’s capabilities are being used, which may take it out of spec.
A more expensive option, the Keysight U1282A, also uses the HY3131 chip, which makes it more likely that the chip has a feature for the higher count rating.
However, this is still a mystery, and it is possible that the companies are lying about the rating, or that the rating is a result of scaling and filtering done by an additional microcontroller (which would be easy to check for users with some expertise).
