The camera is printed in its entirety, apart from the lens, shutter, and magnets.
Hiltz’s design is relatively simple, with a very basic lens and shutter mechanism, but he hopes photographers will refine it to produce an inexpensive entry into medium format photography.
Printing your own Pioneer camera opens the door to experimental endeavours, such as a camera with multiple apertures that blur in different ways, and Hiltz is also working on a version that incorporates a dial to adjust the focus.
