PoE-powered GPIB Adapter with Ethernet and USB-C Support

Summary
The lab equipment industry is moving away from General Purpose Interface Bus (GPIB) ports, as they are bulky and have compatibility issues, with many companies now using Ethernet connections instead.
An open-source option for this is Chris Koften’s Ethernet-to-GPIB adapter, which is based on the ATmega4809 MCU and the Wiznet W5500 SPI Ethernet controller, connecting via VXI-11.2 and Prologix protocols, and can be powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) or USB-C.
The firmware is based on the AR488 project and design documents are available on GitHub, where the author also sells fully assembled adapters.
While commercial options are available, they cost approximately 500,whereasKoften′sadaptercostssignificantlyless,withthebillofmaterialscostingunder50.
