Artist Wyatt Roy used a multi-colour DLP resin 3D printer to reproduce images, but it is still very much a work in progress, with one expert stating the process was a “GAUSSIAN SPATIAL OF Color, not distribution of anything”.
Splatting colour rather than geometry is complicated, and the result is a 3D model rather than the 2D photograph.
