Wireless Doorbell Extension Features Home-Wound Coil

Summary
Ajoy Raman wanted to extend the range of his doorbell to his workshop, so he could hear when someone was at the door.
Rather than simply buying an extender, he chose to dismantle a wireless doorbell, keeping the transmitter.
He then used the same coil from the wireless doorbell to wrap around the solenoid in his original doorbell, connecting it to the transmitter’s power supply.
This allows the pulse sent from the original doorbell to create a small voltage in the coil, providing power to the wireless doorbell’s transmitter for long enough to send the signal.
He has since installed it and it works reliably at a distance of around 50 feet.
