TCS HackQuest is organised by Tata Consultancy Services to recruit students for three categories: Ninja, Digital and Prime, with various salaries depending on the category.
There are three rounds to the process, two CTF rounds and one interview round.
For the CTF, it is advised to practice early as the second round is proctored and the proctor is unlikely to take it easy on the candidate.
One of the challenges, “Shade Wars”, required the adjustment of the hue of a QR code to 15 to retrieve a flag.
For the interview, it is important to have the basics of cybersecurity down, and it is okay not to know every single answer as the interviewers are aware that interns are not expected to know everything.
Be prepared for some repetitive questions.
After the interview, applicants may end up waiting a long time for results, over twelve days in one case.
Overall, the organisation of the CTF process could be better, and a lot of candidates may have been successful through malpractice.
