After a lengthy investigation, Wired has linked former neural interface developer Edward Coristine to a sprawling hack of US government databases; the hack is believed to have been masterminded by “The Com”, a community of cyber criminals.
Coristine went by the name “Rivage” and was dismissed from anti-DDoS company Path Networks in June 2022 for allegedly leaking internal company information.
Coristine’s DOGE teammate Marko Elez resigned on Thursday following links to racist social media posts.
On Friday, The Department of Education was sued by a California students’ association attempting to halt DOGE’s “unlawful” access of student data.
Multiple parties are suing to prevent access to the information, with a federal judge ruling on the matter today.
