Summary
Ploopy, a Canadian company, has upgraded its Classic trackball mouse with improved connectivity, a more reliable scroll wheel and an easier to print design.
The new Ploopy Classic 2 mouse is designed for users who prefer trackpads and is available as a do-it-yourself kit or ready-assembled for polymer-based 3D printers.
The Ploopy can be customised and programmed using open-source firmware and plans can be downloaded from GitHub.
It uses a USB-C port instead of a USB-B port and employs D2LS-21 switches under its buttons and a PMW-3360 optical sensor.
The microcontroller on the Classic 2 runs an algorithm 15 times faster than the original resulting in a more precise and reliable scroll wheel.
