Yamaha has revealed a new handheld controller which allows boat captains to control their vessel from anywhere onboard, even if they are not at the helm.
The device, which is compatible with Yamaha’s Helm Master EX control system, will not be available until the latter part of 2025 and the price has not yet been released.
The Helm Master EX Wireless Control resembles the Nunchuk controller used for the Nintendo Wii.
It is designed to make it easier to operate boats with multiple engines and can be upgraded with an autopilot system and a joystick with controls to simplify manoeuvring.
The remote is waterproof, buoyant, and will automatically stop the boat and switch off its engines if it detects anyone falling overboard.
