Boox has launched its first colour E Ink desktop monitor, the Mira Pro Color, which ships from China for $1,899.
It features a 25.3-inch screen with a 3,200 x 1,800 resolution and a limited colour palette of 4,096 colours, but its customisable display modes balance image quality and performance, making it capable of displaying videos.
Its attractiveness also lies in its eye friendliness, using a screen that reflects light rather than emitting it, and the front light can be adjusted to warmer colour temperatures at night.
The device has speakers, an anti-ghosting refresh button and multiple ports, including HDMI, mini HDMI, USB-C and Display Port.
Boox suggests its product could be attractive for users who edit text, write or use spreadsheets, but its limited colour palette and slow refresh rate make it impractical for gamers, watchers of TV and movies, or those who work with images.
