Smartwatch creator Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble, has launched a podcast called Tick Talk, in which he discussed his new company Core Devices and its forthcoming watches, as well as addressing issues such as price and delivery.
Migicovsky confirmed that the Core 2 Duo, which has a black-and-white screen but no touch capabilities, will ship in July 2025, although there are issues with drivers for some functions on the watch.
Despite this, Migicovsky is confident that the watch will be popular when it launches, and demoed the UI and a tiny USB-C magnetic charging dongle.
The creator also discussed plans for the watch’s OS, PebbleOS, including looking at access to AI voice assistants, potential deeper integration with Beeper messaging, and watch face widgets.
Furthermore, Migicovsky addressed the potential impact of US tariffs on Chinese-made goods on the Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2, stating that it was likely the price would be increased by around 10−25 due to Chinese-made smartwatches being subjected to 27.5% tariffs.
