Square’s $399 Handheld accepts tap-to-pay at your table

Square claims its new device is “one of the thinnest and lightest” such systems on the market, weighing 11oz and under an inch thick.
The device’s battery is designed to last a full day’s trading, and it also has a 6.2-inch waterproof touchscreen, a barcode scanner and a 16-megapixel camera.
The accompanying app includes industry-specific customisations like Quick Service, Bar and Retail modes.
