The busiest US airline now supports Apple’s AirTag location sharing

Summary
American Airlines has adopted Apple’s Share Item Location feature, which allows users of the Find My network to generate a map link to help users locate missing items, including suitcases tracked with AirTags.
The feature was launched in December 2022 and lets users share an item’s location via a QR code, which is deactivated once a lost item is found and can be switched off at any time.
Seven days after it is generated, the link expires.
American Airlines is the latest in a string of companies to adopt the tool, following United, Delta, Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic.
Lost luggage is estimated to have cost US airlines more than 150m(110m) in 2021, with more than 46,000 baggage complaints filed with the US Department of Transportation.
