Summary
Snap has released new features and functionality for its Spectacles AR glasses, including GPS for navigation, gaming and other experiences.
Lenses can now use location data, including GPS, GNSS and compass headings, alongside improved hand tracking and an AR keyboard.
Developers can create lenses for pathfinding, while Niantic has used the technology to add multiplayer capabilities to its Peridot Beyond game.
However, the fifth-generation Spectacles, which were launched in September and feature a 45-minute battery life, are still only available to developers to rent for a minimum of a year at a cost of $99 a month.
Snap has not released consumer AR Spectacles, and there has been no announcement about when they may arrive or what they might cost.
