Google has a fix for all of the broken Chromecasts

Summary
Google has contacted affected second-generation Chromecast and Chromecast Audio users to state that everything should now work normally after an issue caused devices to stop working or become ‘bricked’ after users attempted a factory reset.
The company’s new Google Home app, version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS, now allows users to set up and revive devices that were bricked after a reset.
It is thought that the “untrusted device” error may have been caused by an expired certificate inside the discontinued devices.
Google will provide any further updates on its Google Nest community page.
