Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble smartwatches, has announced the release of two new smartwatches using the open-sourced Pebble operating system (OS), alongside his new company, Core Devices.
The first watch, the Core 2 Duo, will cost $149 and is based on the Pebble 2, but with an updated feature set.
The second, the Core Time 2, will feature a touchscreen and cost $225, building on the design of the Pebble Time 2.
Migicovsky emphasized that the goal of the new company is to make products he wants to use, not to sell millions, and also noted that while the Pebble OS works with iOS, it is more functional with Android.
Both Core watches are currently available for pre-order, with the Core 2 Duo set to ship in July and the Core Time 2 in December.
