Signal clone used by Trump official stops operations after report it was hacked

Summary
Former National Security Advisor Mike Waltz—who has previously been in the news due to concerns over his use of the Signal messaging app—has had more messaging data compromised, following a hack on the app he was using.
The app, TeleMessage, is actually a clone of Signal, which is often modified and sold to the US government so that they can archive messages.
The hacker was able to steal data from the app, including messages from direct messages and group chats.
TeleMessage has temporarily halted its services whilst an investigation is underway, with all other services provided by its parent company Smarsh remaining fully operational.
The incident calls into question once more the Trump administration’s use of messaging, and its ability to protect sensitive government communications.
