Google introduces Advanced Protection mode for its most at-risk Android users

Summary
Google has introduced a new security feature called Advanced Protection that will launch on Android 16 and aims to protect devices against malware and hacking.
When launched, users will be able to activate the feature with a single button, enabling a range of security protocols to protect against zero-day vulnerabilities, which are vulnerabilities not known to the vendor and for which no fix exists.
These often take the form of sophisticated attacks on devices and can result in them being infected by spyware that can steal contacts, message history and location data, among other sensitive information.
Google has said that the feature may impact device performance, and so is recommending the new mode for journalists, politicians and business leaders who are most likely to be targeted.
Full roll-out of the free Advanced Protection will be available later in the year.
