Microsoft has increased the price of its Microsoft 365 Personal and Family plans due to the inclusion of Copilot features.
The new features, which include summarising text, creating powerpoints and analysing data, are also now included in the subscription.
Classic subscriptions at the previous price are still available, but users will need to cancel their existing subscription and then rejoin at the lower rate.
This can be done via the services and subscriptions page in a Microsoft account.
The new 10monthlypersonalsubscriptionfee(120 annually) is more than doubling the previous 7monthlyrate,andthenew13 monthly family plan fee (156annually)isa678 per month.
The new pricing goes into effect for existing subscribers at their next renewal date, although Microsoft is allowing them to revert to the classic Personal and Family plans without the Copilot AI features until June 30, 2023, after which the classic plans will be permanently retired. Schuster said the classic plans will require users to cancel their current subscription and sign up for the old plan.
