Summary
A new report by the World Economic Forum (WEF) has found that AI will create a net increase of 78 million jobs worldwide by 2030, with AI creating 170 million new jobs while eliminating 92 million positions.
However, 50% of companies plan to change the direction of their business due to AI, while 40% anticipate reducing their workforce due to automation.
The WEF emphasised that specific AI and big data expertise, networking and cybersecurity, and technological literacy will be the most sought-after skills by 2030.
Among declining job categories, postal service clerks, executive secretaries and payroll staff are set to be most affected, with the introduction of AI cited as the main reason.
Interestingly, for the first time, graphic designers and legal secretaries are also listed among the fastest-declining job categories, a trend that the WEF attributes to the expanding capabilities of generative AI.
