4chan has been down since Monday night after “pretty comprehensive own”

Summary
Anonymous imageboard site 4chan, notorious for hosting unsavoury communities dedicated to pornography, hate speech, and inciting cyberbullying, appeared to be the target of a cyberattack on 4 January.
4chan itself has not acknowledged any such attack, and its services remain unavailable at the time of writing.
Rival site Soyjack Party, born as an offshoot of 4chan,claimed responsibility for the attack, but these sorts of insular communities are rarely able to provide valid attestation of their claims.
It appears that the attack was significant, granting the attackers access to 4chan’s SQL databases, source code and shell access.
There have been unsubstantiated claims that personal user information, such as real names, IP addresses and educational and governmental email addresses have been leaked, but these should be treated with caution until verified by credible sources.
4chan is unlikely to be fully defunct, as reports have suggested, given that its services have been unavailable for six hours and this has yet to be######lauded as a meaningful amount of time by users.
