Speech recognition is an integrated Microsoft tool that allows users to control Windows devices using their voice alone, without a keyboard or mouse.
The tool can be enabled via Windows 11’s Settings, then Privacy & security, then Speech, and ensure the Online speech recognition toggle is enabled.
Users should also ensure their microphone - whether integrated or external - is enabled and working properly.
With Windows 11, go to Settings, then System, then Sound, then Advanced, then More sound settings, and go to Recording to see if there are any issues.
Once the microphone is connected and communication, users can set up speech recognition by going to the Online Speech Recognition page and enabling the service, and users can also provide Microsoft with more voice samples to improve accuracy by clicking Start contributing my voice clips.
Microsoft apps will use this tool to become familiar with the user’s unique voice pattern and vocabulary.
