The $299 Elegoo Centauri Carbon is an affordable 3D printer that is simple to set up and use and delivers excellent print quality.
It is an FDM (fused deposition modelling) printer enclosed in a space-grey die-cast metal chassis, enabling it to offer rapid output and a maximum print speed of 500mm/s, as well as 20,000 mm/s2 acceleration.
It has a 256 x 256 x 256mm build volume and can reach high temperatures, with a hot end temp of 608ºF (320ºC) and a build plate temp of 230ºF (110ºC).
It comes with Elegoo’s easy-to-use proprietary slicer software, a 4.3-inch colour touchscreen for adjusting print settings and several pre-loaded models, as well as a webcam for monitoring prints.
It can print modular objects in one go and does not require supports for several models, but only supports single-colour prints and can be noisy.
