Microsoft Teams Replacing Skype Isn’t Such A Bad Thing
1 min read
Summary
Microsoft Teams will be replacing Skype in May 2025, but many users feel more comfortable using Skype, even though Teams offers many of the same features.
Both services allow free and paid-for tiers, the latter aimed at businesses, though Teams does offer some upgraded services.
The platforms share a familiar look to make the transition smoother, and Microsoft has made it easy to switch by keeping the log-in mechanism the same, so users can simply log into Teams using their Skype account.
Teams also has Trello, Adobe Creative Cloud and Zoom as integrated services, something that Skype does not offer.
The only downside to Teams is the one-hour limit on group calls, whereas Skype offers 24 hours.
Additionally, Skype lets users call landlines and mobile phones, something Teams does not offer.
However, with Teams, users can schedule and find upcoming events and dates easily by clicking the Calendar tab, something that is not available on Skype.
