Amazon is set to reveal its new Alexa generative AI during a press preview event on 26 February, according to reports.
The event has been postponed several times, but the new Alexa is now ready for release, with improvements to be made to the existing model, including the ability to handle more than one command or query at a time.
It’s expected that the new features, which may also include the ability to handle some tasks without any user input, will be subscription-based, costing between 5and10 per month.
However, Amazon is expected to keep the classic version available for those who don’t wish to pay the extra fee.
A final decision on whether to roll out the new model to the public could be made as soon as 14 February, but if it is released, it will only be to a limited number of users initially.
Amazon has invested billions in AI development, and is looking to compete with Google and Siri in terms of AI personal assistant offerings.
