TikTok has released Android package kits allowing users to sideload the app as the Google Play Store refuses to restore it following the ban.
Users can reinstall and update to the latest version of the app, but TikTok has not created a package for iPhones due to Apple’s disapproval of sideloading.
Those who have uninstalled the app are advised to use the web version, and some users have resorted to buying pre-installed phones with the app on eBay.
TikTok has stated that the app should only be downloaded from its official download site, and it is giving Oracle and security inspectors full access to the code to check for vulnerabilities.
It is not known when the app will be fully restored, as President Trump has given ByteDance extra time to sell the company to a US-based company.
