Summary
Bypass charging is an option on some Android phones, particularly those produced by Samsung, ASUS, Google and others.
Rather than relying on the phone’s battery for power whilst charging and gaming, which causes the phone to heat up and the battery to drain faster, bypass charging provides power directly from the charger to the phone.
This reduces heat buildup, minimises thermal throttling and helps to extend the battery’s life by preventing unnecessary charging cycles.
On Samsung phones, this function is embedded within the Game Booster app, and can only be used when gaming.
-Charge limiting is another function that can help preserve a phone’s battery lifespan by stopping charging once the phone reaches a manufacturer-recommended threshold, such as 80%, 85% or 95%.
However, this function doesn’t power a phone directly during gaming sessions like bypass charging does.
