How to Disable the “These Files Might Be Harmful to Your Computer” Warning

Summary
For anyone who finds the ongoing ‘These files might be harmful to your computer’ warning when transferring files from another computer on your home network annoying, help is at hand.
The fix depends on the situation, according to the Windows reporter Paul Collins, who outlines two situations.
In the first, for network drives, adding your DNS address to the Intranet Zone can disable the warning, while for local drive transfers, you will need to try different solutions to see what works best.
These include adding your IP address to the Local intranet zone and turning the warning off using Group Policy Editor, an option only available on Windows Pro, Enterprise and Education editions.
Collins also notes that the solution could be to temporarily disable UAC settings to bypass the warning or, on older Windows 11 versions, removing Internet Explorer.
