Amazon Is Killing the Zoom Alternative You've Never Heard Of
1 min read
Summary
Amazon is to shut down its Amazon Chime service from 20 February 2026, as it stops taking new customers from 19 February 2025.
Existing customers will be able to use its business calling and hosting meetings features until it closes.
Instead of running its own alternative to Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Slack, Amazon will instead opt for the services of Zoom, as well as Webex and Slack.
This is one of several services Amazon is shuttering, along with the Amazon Appstore, the Inspire feed, and the option to download and transfer Kindle books via USB.
It is believed Amazon is streamlining its services ahead of the launch of a new and upgraded Alexa virtual assistant.
