Download Your Kindle eBooks Now Before Amazon Removes This Useful Option

Summary
From February 26, 2025, Amazon will no longer offer the option to download and transfer e-books to a Kindle via USB, as a warning on its site states: “The Download & Transfer via USB option will no longer be available”.
This feature was valuable for older Kindle models that did not have Wi-Fi, but it appears Amazon is shifting focus to wireless connectivity and its Kindle app for other devices.
Another reason for the change may be due to the AZW3 format used on the Amazon website, which does not offer the same level of DRM protection as the KFX format used on modern Kindles.
This means customers will no longer have ultimate ownership of their e-books, as storing them on a PC means Amazon could still delete the file, whereas having them on a Kindle means the company has less opportunity to make changes without permission.
