Summary

  • Google has updated its Find Device app, adding the functionality for location sharing with other users.
  • The app allows real-time location sharing via the People (Beta) tab, where Google contacts can be selected to view the location.
  • Contacts not using Android can also locate the user via a link that redirects to a web page with a map.
  • To share your location you need to update to Google Find My Device to the latest version (ver. 3.1.277-4) on the Google Play store.
  • After logging into the app users can tap the People (Beta) tab, then tap on + New Share, and then select the duration of location sharing.
  • Contacts are then selected from the In-app sharing section, or via the Share link button to share the location with.
  • To stop sharing your location, go to the People (Beta) tab, select You’re sharing with, tap the name of the person (or Sharing via link), and then tap Stop sharing.
