As previously reported by Windows Latest, Microsoft has now started sending emails to Windows 10 users, reminding them that it is retiring, and that they should consider upgrading to Windows 11.
The email includes links to check hardware eligibility and explore new Windows 11 computers, as well as a list of frequently asked questions, and an advertisement for Microsoft OneDrive.
However, many feel that the tone of the email is inappropriate, and that, given the expense of upgrading to Windows 11, the company should be doing more to promote the option to purchase extended support for Windows 10 on an individual basis.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is also facing fresh criticism over revelations that it had deliberately made it more difficult for users to refuse the installation of Windows 11 Home over Microsoft Edge, whilst making it easier to switch to Chrome.
An upcoming build of the operating system will remove this limitation.
