Google is introducing an AI-powered search feature to Gmail, allowing users to toggle between the most relevant and the most recent results, thereby offering them more control over how they filter and find emails.
As well as the chronological order of keywords, the search results will now factor in recency, frequency of interaction, and contacts.
This update is being rolled out globally, first for personal accounts and then for business accounts, and will give users the freedom to decide whether to use the classic chronological feature or the new AI-powered search.
There is concern, however, that the new feature will be on default, with worries centering on how this might affect user privacy.
