Summary
A new Microsoft update is helping to resolve a frustrating bug that’s been present since January 2025 causing USB-connected dual-mode printers to print random text and data.
This affected Windows 10, version 22H2, and Windows 11 23H2, but Microsoft has now released an optional update to fix the problem.
This will be available on Windows 11 24H2 from 27 March 2025.
The bug was causing printers to print gibberish and began with the header “POST /ipp/print HTTP/1.1” including strange network commands and unusual characters.
Microsoft has also recommended other important improvements and bug fixes to install on your device.
The global fix for this issue is also due to be rolled out in April with Patch Tuesday.
