Summary
Microsoft will stop supporting Office 2016 and 2019 on 14 October 2025, on the same day it ends support for Windows 10.
From this date, Microsoft will no longer provide security or technical updates for these software versions.
Users are advised to update to Microsoft 365, which includes standard Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as new features such as the Copilot AI chatbot.
A Microsoft 365 Personal account costs either 99.99peryearor9.99 per month, while the Family option is priced at 129.99peryearor12.99 per month.
The chatbot uses an AI credit system, which limits usage and will encourage users to pay for extra credits, but there are numerous free AI tools that can carry out the same tasks without charge.
